long live 80's music, but please God, not the clothes!

In preparation to see The Legwarmers, I went out for a little bit of 80's clothes shopping. A few friends who have gone before have told me that people will dress up, and once I told my friend Renee, it was all over... we had to dress up. I figured Claire's accessory shop would have some teeny bopper 80's-esque stuff so I stopped in... while at the mall, I discovered that it was horrifyingly easy to find 80's attire.

(sorry for the poor quality photos taken by my 2003 flip phone. Yeah.)

I give you exhibit A: stirrup pants. At Macy's. In 2009.

Think that is bad? How about purple stirrup jeans? Also in Macy's. Still 2009.

Finally, in a crappy little store called Rainbow, something that should have been banned forever the first time they went out of fashion. I really hope to God that everyone is passing this stuff by and that we don't actually see people wearing this shit. Ladies and gentlemen, LIME GREEN LACY SPANDEX.

Bayside Animal Hospital

Matt and I spent the last eight days, dog-sitting for a guy that Matt knows through work. It was a little hard to do at first, because we were watching a Golden Retriever. It has now been four months since our beloved Molly passed away, and having another Golden in the house was just a little weird. Gabby has her own unique personality though, and after the first day, I was very enamored by her incredibly sweet nature. She would grab a toy and lay in my lap so I could brush her and pet her and treat her like a queen.

I was surprised when Matt brought the dog over, by the minimal accessories that came with Gabby. When Matt and I went to Florida for a week, Molly spent a week with my friend Amy. I packed an entire suitcase for Molly. She had a bag full of treats and rawhide rolls to share with the dog that she would be playing with, a bag full of toys, her bed, her sheet for her bed, her leashes, and most importantly, her vet papers. My friend knew the name and number of Molly's vet, should anything happen while we were away. Matt and Gabby's "dad" must not have had an information session like I had given Amy. He had her bag of dog food, bowls, and her crate. Luckily, I kept a couple of Molly's leashes and toys so that we could walk and play, but I soon discovered the importance of those vet records!

Gabby had some really terrible mats behind her ears. Since I did not have a copy of her vet records, I could not take her to any groomer to have the ears fixed and Gabby would not let me get close enough to her ears to attempt to cut them out myself. I was very lucky to contact Laura the groomer at Bayside Animal Hospital. Laura understood that Gab must have been very uncomfortable and she took mercy on the both of us! Between Laura and her helpful vet tech, Gabby was groomed to perfection with a few skillful strokes of Laura's clippers. I swear I heard a sigh of relief!

I thanked Laura for taking the time to help this wonderful animal and she actually gave me a hug! It is so nice to know that there are still kind and caring people in this world who want the best for people and animals, alike.

On a daily basis, dogs need exercise, food, and love. But, since accidents and other unfortunate events happen, and usually at the most inconvenient time possible, it is best to cover all bases and make sure that your pet-sitter has all of the resources necessary to ensure your dog's comfort and health.

Thanks again to Laura and Bayside Animal Hospital for making Gabby's stay with us just a little more comfortable.
